For Teachers

What are the Best Teacher Job Networks?

By The Room 241 Team November 6, 2012

Despite what many say, the education profession still offers considerable benefits and satisfaction for those who have chosen this noble field. Job opportunities exist throughout the United States, and many of those positions (teachers, staff or administrators) are routinely updated on education-focused job network sites.

Teacher Job Network

This site requires education professionals to create a profile along with setting their own username and password information in the system. The site is organized by job category and is regularly updated with new positions and upcoming job fairs geared toward education professionals. Those participating with the Teacher Job Network can direct their profile information to specific school districts and are not restricted to applying for only one position. Another added bonus: non-certified teachers may also participate with the Teacher Job Network. This site is particularly valuable to anyone wishing to work in any capacity in school systems across the country.

Nation Job

Nation Job provides a searchable database for education-related positions across the country. A benefit of this site is that its education jobs are not limited to school districts, but instead include area colleges, community colleges and industries offering positions where teaching skills are transferable. Part-time positions (though limited) are listed here as well, so if an educator is looking for supplemental income while utilizing their teaching certificate, this would be a useful place to search. The search engine is broken down by keywords, category, city, state and radius from a particular metropolitan area.

Education America

Education America lists jobs in all 50 states that are related to the field of education. Job seekers create a username and password in order to log onto the database, which is routinely updated to include jobs for K-12 teachers, post-secondary teaching positions, paraeducator positions and teacher opportunities overseas. Job seekers may also refine their job search to include the regions they are specifically interested in. Their website boasts over 2.8 million users and lists thousands of jobs daily.

Job seekers can receive updates via email and can get professional help for their resumes through the site. Those looking to hire teachers get help with their recruiting efforts and both recruiters and job-seekers get information regarding upcoming events. Education America has established itself as one of America’s premier teacher job network sites.

Academic Employment Network

If a job vacancy has anything at all to do with the education system, the Academic Employment Network has a category for it. This site literally lists millions of education jobs daily and operates through a search engine that looks for jobs via keyword or state. Their academic job listings include K-12, higher education and administrator positions as well as positions at institutions of higher learning, including universities. The Academic Employment Network also connects job seekers with headhunters and offers resume evaluations and assistance with executive job searches.

K-12 Jobs is an excellent teacher job network for those desiring work in either public or private institutions across the United States. Job seekers create a free profile to utilize this site, which not only offers information about available education positions but also offers teacher resources, teacher job fair information and teacher certification information. Listings on this site include staff positions such as school nurses and teacher assistant vacancies.

Southern Teachers Agency

Of course, this site will only be of interest to job seekers looking for work in private schools in the Southern United States. This agency was established in 1902 and is the country’s oldest teacher placement service. The site has openings for any education role, from school administrators and executive-level staff to para-educators and every position in between. The site lists both the location and the positions they are recruiting for, and can be a good resource for those interested in working within their service area.
