FINANCIAL AID

It is essential that you start your financial aid application process as soon as you apply for admission into a specific program. This quick and simple process can make paying for college a smooth and affordable experience.

To determine your financial aid eligibility, you must first file a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). We recommend you complete the financial aid process along with your program application, so payment arrangements are in order by the start of classes.

You will need the specific school code of the university to which you apply, available below along with contact information:

CONCORDIA UNIVERSITY-PORTLAND

Concordia University-Portland’s FAFSA school code is 003191.

Phone: (888) 244-5140

NEXT STEPS

Once your FAFSA is submitted and processed, the U.S. Department of Education will send you a Student Aid Report (SAR). This report will include your Expected Family Contribution (EFC), which the specific university or college will use to determine your financial aid eligibility.

When you have been accepted to the relevant online degree program and have filed the FAFSA with the specific member institution as a recipient, you will be notified exactly how much aid you are eligible for (including federal, state, and institutional funds) in your personalized financial aid package.

Free Textbooks

Our Free Textbooks offer is an investment in you. Concordia Portland has agreed to assume the costs of textbooks, E-books and other required materials and their shipping costs for all MEd students who start in July 2017 and EdD students who start in August 2017.

Learn about the Free Textbooks offer for MEd students. Read More...

Will “suggested” or “non-required” supplemental reading materials also be free?

No. The free textbook offer applies to required reading materials only. Students who wish to purchase copies of suggested and/or supplemental resources will still need to do so at their own expense.

How will it work?

  • Prior to the start of the first course, registered and enrolled students will be sent an email with a voucher amount necessary to cover the required materials in the first 2 courses. Once they login to the online bookstore, select the appropriate books and confirm their shipping address, the books and/or E-books will be on the way.
  • If there is an option for the student to pick between textbooks or E-books, the voucher amount will be enough to cover the E-book version. Choosing textbooks when given an option may require the student to pay an additional amount out of pocket.
  • There will be additional vouchers sent throughout the program to provide the credit to order required books and E-books for future courses.
  • Any remaining balance on a voucher will expire and not roll over to the next term. Students will receive new vouchers for future courses.
  • Students are able to select their shipping method; however, ground shipping is the method included in your voucher. Students can choose an alternate method of shipping at their own expense.

How do I qualify for free textbooks?

Complete all of your application materials, be admitted to the Master of Education degree program and enroll to start on July 17, 2017.

I have already started my MEd at Concordia University-Portland. Do I get free textbooks now?

Can I keep the E-books?

E-book access is controlled with a license from the publisher. In most cases, the license is good for 180 or 365 days after delivery, depending on the publisher. Access to the materials will expire at the end of the licensing period. Concordia University cannot extend the license on the student’s behalf and the student will need to purchase access to the materials for themselves if they need, or want, to extend.

What if I withdraw from the program?

Students who withdraw from the program forfeit the opportunity to continue receiving free textbooks. Students on a Leave of Absence will be unable to order new books until they return from Leave and re-enter their program.
