I would like to obtain a Master’s in Education with a concentration in Early Childhood Education and wanted to know if I could also do a second concentration, such as SPED. Is it possible to receive two concentrations?

    • admissions says:

Adria, Yes, we do offer Dual Concentration! Dual Concentration is a fabulous benefit for educators because additional career opportunities may be available. Educators need to complete 4-6 additional courses, which provides a second concentration! Thank you.

Will I be able to get a teaching job with this degree? Is this school recognized in GA and TN?

    • admissions says:

Claressa, This is a Master’s degree and does not include certification/licensure. Depending on what grade level you would like to teach you may need certification/licensure. Concordia is Regionally Accredited so you may double check with the Department of Education for your state to confirm. Feel free to call and we can help you walk through your options. Thank you.

Since your program does not offer licensure, what other steps would need to be taken for a student to become licensed in the state of Oregon? Thank you!

    • academics says:

Hello Lyndsey, The additional steps for licensure from our ground campus depend on the license you are pursuing. You can view our licensure programs at our Concordia University website: http://www.cu-portland.edu/ click on Academics and then the College of Education. Best of luck.

Does your university offer the special ed credential for teaching in California? Does the M.Ed allow one to teach special education in mild to moderate? What is the cost of your program? Where is the teaching internship.Thanks.

    • admin says:

Liz, the Concordia M.Ed. program does not offer teacher credentialing. The Special Education (SPED) program is structured for the generalist and is applicable to most types of special ed situations. The cost of the program is $620 per credit, and the program is 30 credits. Our fully online, one-year program does not require a teaching internship; our students enroll in a capstone course called the Action Research Project, which is the final course in the program.
